Duties & Responsabilities:
· The role of the Weld Engineer is to coordinate, supervise, and guide activities of the welding technicians in the plant.
· Work with plant process and quality engineers to support the welding activities of the plant.
· The responsibilities of the weld team will include setting and documenting all welding parameters, weld trouble shooting, setting up preventative maintenance schedules of weld equipment and robots, and performing welding audits.
· Assist in RFQ activates and work with launch teams on new programs to set welding parameters and program robots on new product Launches.
Main Role and Activities:
· Set and validate parameters on Semiautomatic, Automatic, and Robot Welding equipment for GMAW, GTAW, and RSW.
· Supervise the programming, maintenance, and enhancement of welding paths on Motoman and XRC controllers as well as other robot manufactures.
· Support RFQ’s for new welding equipment.
· Trouble shoot production welding equipment
· Maintain Documents for Weld Standardization and WPS
· Coordinate PM and Repairs on welding equipment
· Implement welding related cost saving within the plant.
· Upgrade and maintain welding equipment to the Tenneco Standards.
· Direct and support activities to ensure plant welding meets all customer and Tenneco welding standards and requirements.
· Support design engineering on new programs for design for manufacturing
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
· 4 year degree in Mechanical, Welding or Metalurgic Engineering preferred.
· Thorough familiarity with the GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and Resistent Spot Welding processes and equipment.
· AWS Certified is a PLUS.
· Knowledge of Steel Metallurgy
· Demonstrates analytical and problem solving ability (8D, 5Wy's)
· Willingness to learn and work in a team environment.
· Demonstrates integrity.
· 5 plus years welding experience preferred
· English 80%
